Athens is a city undergoing simultaneous decay and reconstruction. Layers of graffiti cloak its architecture, merging the old and the new into a singular entity. The city serves as a reflection of Rita's mental state, which reached a breaking point.
'Mood Gauge' is a book-essay that tells the story without words about waves that come and go, the dark forest that she got lost inside her, the wounds, and replacements of something she thought to be irreplaceable—much like the ancient columns of the Pantheon.
